Conviction of Symonds.

This man who was in confinement in the Auburn Jail last season for being concerned in the Mountain Springs robbery, and while there, was traced by a chain of circumstances, says the Placer Herald, as one of the murderers of two men last summer, near Benson's Ferry, in Sacramento county, has been on trial for the murder in the Sacramento District Court. After a faithful investigation, taking four or five days, the case was given to the jury, who, in five minutes, rendered a verdict of "guilty of murder in the first degree." There can be no doubt that Symonds was properly convicted and will suffer the extreme penalty of the law. His partner in crime, Crozier is still at large, but sooner or later he will be very apt to meet his deserts.
