By the Water Witch at Norfolk.
A letter from Bordeaux, dated 16th of December, received by the Water Witch states, "that the absence of the Emperor has contributed very much to produce a stagnation of business; but if he should return to Paris during the winter, business would revive."
It appears from the above information, which is from a respectable source, that the situation of Bonaparte was either unknown in France, as late as the middle of December, or known only to those who would not or dare not make public mention of it.
The above letter also states, that Colonial and American Produce, except Cotton, remained low, owing to the stagnation of business.
The report of the death of Bonaparte is revived to day;--though the circulation of it is general, and some credit attached, yet we cannot ascertain precisely the true state of the fact.
