Sam Cooke, one of the great ballad singers on radio - TV, theater and night club circuit, will come to Atlanta, Sunday, Nov 15 to co-star with Lionel Hampton and his famous orchestra at the Magnolia Ballroom for two shows at 6:00 and 10:00 P M.
Cooke will come to Atlanta direct from a guest appearance, Saturday Night, Nov 14 on the coast-to-coast Dick Clark Show which will be carried live over the NBC-TV network from New York City.
Vocalist Cooke broke into popular singing after touring the nation for years with the Soul Stirrers Gospel Singers of Chicago, Ill. He was one of the highest salaried featured singers in the gospel field until he quit to become a pop singer.
Cooke's first hit was 'You Send Me' and he has followed this platter with other successes including 'Everybody Loves To Cha. Cha. Cha.' 'Summertime.' 'Love You Most of All,' 'Blue Moon' and 'There I've Said It Again'
Lionel Hampton's crew has traveled throughout the world. The band has been a hit in Europe. Africa. Asia, as well as in Australia and the Orient.
Hampton's band has toured almost as extensively as Louis Armstrong and the Harlem Globetrotters and is an internationally acclaimed orchestral unit.
