FREDERICKSBURG, Aug. 28.

On Sunday night the 17th inst. a most daring murder and robbery was committed on the body of a travelling man at the lower end of Orange county. It appeared from corroborating evidence, at the coroner's inquest, that the deceased called at the house of Thomas Brightwell, and asked for something to eat and drink: and as they could not give him change for a guinea, he gave them a pair of buckles for his expences. He was shot about a hundred yards from the house, and lived till the next day. He said that immediately upon his being shot, three or four persons rummaged his pockets and robbed him of his money. He was a young man about 22 years of age, very well dressed, handsome and well made; said his name was Johnson, and that he was a citizen of New-York. His linen was marked E. D.

Thomas Brightwell, and the person who shot him, are apprehended and committed to gaol; some others, equally guilty, it is hoped will find their way there, and meet the fate they justly deserve.
