Extract of a letter, dated Louisville,
Jan. 9, 1807.

"We received information last evening, on which I think we can rely, that Col. Burr's party was to make their principal rendezvous at the Iron Works on the 2d of this month, and there is no doubt now left but his intentions are the Spanish settlement at and in the neighborhood of Baron de Bastrop on the Mississippi, and that if his intentions ever had been a conquest of Mexico, the exertions of our government have for the present diverted him to a secondary object."
