We are sorry to observe (says the Baltimore Telegraphe) by different papers from the upper parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. that the dysentery rages with unprecedented magnitude, -the numbers attacked exceeding every thing heretofore known in those places in the small town of Braintrim (Penn ) which is not inhabited by more than 50 families, it is said there have died, and 100 more lie dangerously ill. A Trenton (N. J )paper says. "Twenty years have elapsed since this place has been as unhealthy as it is at present-great numbers have been.and many are now down with the ague and fever dysentery. flux. &c To what natural cause the visitation of this heretofore remarkably healthy place by such a variety of diseases, is to be attributed, there are many conjectures, but no certainty "--The following is recommended as a cure for the dysentery :
"A decoction of the root of the Jew Berry- The leaves put into a tea.pot, and boiling water poured on, will answer nearly as well. The tea may be sweetened with sugar and creamed to the patient's liking, and he may drink as much as a pint at a time until he feels the benefit of it, and then gradually leave it off."
