Full Text

NAPLES, July 21.

Great numbers of unhappy objects still continuing to die in the houses and streets, whose bodies infect the air; to obviate this inconveniency, new hospitals have been erected to receive all poor objects, supported by public subscription, set on foot by some Ladies of high rank. Since these prudent precautions, the number of dead people which amounted before to 500 in a day, is reduced to 130; and though this is a great number, it must be considered that the Inhabitants of this city are computed from 370,000 to 380,000, and that these were considerably increased by the great number of poor, whom the fear of famine forced hither from the neighbouring provinces for relief.
