ANOTHER BRILLIANT ACHIEVEMENT BY GEN. STUART.—The gallant dash by a company of Stuart's Cavalry, on Wednesday, in Caroline Co., was followed up on the same day, by an attack upon the enemy in force. General Stuart succeeded in obtaining a position, within six miles of Fredericksburg, which would place the rear of the enemy at his mercy, if their movements should proceed as anticipated. Fortunately affairs turned out nearly as expected. The main force of the enemy was allowed to pass the position, on their way to Fredericksburg, and as the rear guard came up, a sudden dash was made upon them; they were thrown into the utmost confusion, many were killed, over one hundred captured, together with eighty horses, twenty-four wagons, and a large quantity of ammunition. One hundred and six of the prisoners reached this city a day or two since.—Richmond Enquirer.

FIGHT NEAR FREDERICKSBURG

Richmond, August 7.—One hundred and ten prisoners from Pope's army, taken by Stuart's cavalry near Gordonsville, arrived to-night by a special train. No officers among them.

Gen. Stuart left Hanover Court-House on Monday with Lee's Battery and proceeded within eight miles of Fredericksburg, and burned two bridges. The enemy had gone in the direction of Hanover Junction and he went in pursuit, overtook the rear guard at Newburg where a sharp skirmish took place, resulting in the capture of 60 prisoners. The enemy being reinforced and having a strong position on the right, Stuart fell back, but the enemy did not pursue him. In the meantime a detachment sent for the purpose captured a train of 12 wagons and 50 soldiers on the Fredericksburg road. Gen. Stuart returned to Hanover Court House last night.
