Micro Photo Inc. announces the opening of their new 12,000 square feet plant and laboratory on Shaw Ave., just north of Euclid Ave., on Friday, March 15th. The old plant is located at 4614 Prospect Ave.

Erected specifically for the intricate microfilm industry, the laboratory is one of the most unique of its type, and is designed to coordinate at maximum efficiency the many facets and departments in the microfilming process.

Micro Photo is the largest plant in the region for the processing of microfilm for industrial and commercial use. It is the world's largest processor of newspaper microfilm. Over 600 daily and weeklies are now using the facilities. Through this service, newspapers, and an increasing number of libraries and other institutions throughout the country have had historical newspaper editions and recent issues processed on microfilm.

In the commercial and industrial field, Micro Photo has been a leader for 12 years. The industrial services include the photographing of engineering drawings, historical documents and special files. Frequently, a team will go right to the plant and photograph the drawings.

Founders of the company are Leonard Glueck and Sam Freedman who are pioneers in the microfilm processing field. They have developed major improvements in both camera equipment and techniques.

Micro-Photo will have in its laboratory one of the largest microfilm vaults in the country. It is a separate building on its own foundation, windowless, with 12 inch solid masonry walls. It is important that temperature and humidity be maintained at optimum points for proper storage.

Over 35 million feet of microfilm belonging to clients who have engineering drawings, historical newspapers, government papers, titles, archive film and historical documents, will be stored in the vault. Plenty of space has been provided for future expansion.
