The Democratic members of Congress are now busily discussing the chances of candidates for the next Speakership of the House. The leading names are Randall, of Pennsylvania; Wood, of New York; Kerr of Indiana and Banks of Massachusetts. Mr. Kerr has a high reputation for honesty, ability and good parliamentary training, Banks possesses the same qualities and made, nearly twenty years ago, a most efficient Speaker. He is very ready and accurate in his decisions. But in all the list of Speakers since Henry Clay, none has presided with such decided and brilliant success as Speaker Blaine.
