Graduate 76 Students At Hampton Summer School
Ten states and 24 institutions are represented in the largest graduate group to attend Hampton Institute summer school. Attending the current session are 76 students, 40 men and 36 women.
Following is the representation by states: Virginia 28, North Carolina 26, South Carolina 7, Maryland 5, Florida 3, Alabama and Texas 2 each; and one each from Georgia, Kentucky and West Virginia.
Colleges represented include Hampton Institute, 22; Virginia State College and Virginia Union University 8 each; Shaw University 5; Howard University 4; Benedict College 3; Bennett College, Florida A. and M. College, Morgan College, Wilberforce University, and Winston-Salem College, 2 each; North Carolina A. and T. College, Allen University, Atlanta University, Bates College, Bishop College, Colorado Teachers' University, Ohio State University, Talladega College, and Texas College, 1 each.
Officers of the graduate group were elected as follows: President, William E. Lee, Madisonville, Ky.; Vice President, Robert D. Tynes, South Boston; Secretary, Mrs. Florence B. Sorrell, Tuskegee, Ala.
The following are giving instruction to this graduate group: Richard G. Abel, instructor, anatomy, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia; Henry W. Lawrence, professor, history and political science, Connecticut College, New London; William L. Sanders, formerly dean of men, Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware; and Doxey A. Wilkerson, assistant professor education, Howard University, Washington.
