Our Schools Again.

MR. EDITOR:—Having children going to school, the other day we dropped into the rooms of Misses McElroy and Kennedy, just to see how matters progressed, and found those ladies at their post surrounded by groups of happy and well behaved children. Order is maintained easily without the use of the birch. These ladies are both workers. In all the branches taught they are very painstaking and thorough. They seek to amuse their pupils as well as instruct. The consequence is, that the children have made rapid progress. Reading and spelling recitations, arithmetic on the black board, with object drawing, penmanship on slate and book, all passed in review before us with great acceptance, the performance being alike creditable to teachers and pupils. Singing and calisthenics closed the exercises. The first strengthens the voice and the latter the muscle. Both amuse and entertain the children and lighten the labors of the day. As these schools are about to close these ladies may rest assured they carry home with them the best wishes of parents and children.
