To Messrs. John M. Hyneman, Roger Davis, and Joseph Lefever.
GENTLEMEN,
Your votes of concurrence to the amendment of the Senate on the passage of the embargo law of 90 instead of 60 days, as recommended by the President, will draw upon you the censure of every honest man of all parties. The millers and wheat purchasers have had a meeting in Reading on the 11th instant, agreeable to notice in the papers, to take into consideration the propriety of remonstrating to congress against the embargo lately passed, &c. They passed a number of resolutions, and one in the following words: Resolved, That John H. Hyneman, Roger Davis and Joseph Lefever, members of congress from this district, be instructed to use their endeavors to have the act laying an embargo on the ports of the United States repealed at the expiration of sixty days, or sooner if possible.
Gentlemen, you will have by your votes, on concurring with the Senate's amendments to lay an embargo for 90 days instead of 60 days, as recommended by the President, forfeited all confidence of the citizens of said district unless you immediately move for its repeal at the end of 60 days or sooner if possible; with the millers, we, as farmers and the inhabitants of your district, fully concur. You are, or ought to be guardians of our interest and property as well as our liberty, when likely to be affected by a law of the general government, which by your vote you have deserted. The great quantity of flour now made and ready for market in different mills, must spoil if forwarded to the city, or if kept in the mills till the month of July; we as farmers cannot leave home and neglect our now growing crops: the great quantity of rye flour lately made by farmers, will spoil on their hands.-- Sixty days would not operate so hard; the responsibility is therefore great with you, and unless you can bring about an immediate repeal of the embargo after the expiration of sixty days or sooner, all confidence we formerly had in your wisdom and integrity will be forfeited by us, citizens of your district.

Main Argument
the congressmen's vote to extend the embargo from 60 to 90 days betrays their constituents' interests and will forfeit public confidence unless they immediately seek repeal after 60 days to avert economic hardship for millers and farmers.
