Planes Prevented From Disturbing Iowa Porkers

AVOCA, Ia. (AP)—Herman Dittmer couldn't make his hogs airminded, but he has succeeded in making some aviators hogminded.

Planes used to roar over Dittmer's hog lot at an altitude of 500 feet, following the Des Moines-Omaha airmail route. The noise caused his hogs to stampede. Dittmer said many died from injuries, sickness and nervous debility.

Dittmer wrote to federal officials, and now the airmail route passes to the south of Dittmer's hog lot while contented hogs snore peacefully.
