Suffering Considerable Pain
Sheriff Stern expected to leave last night for San Francisco to visit his mother, who is quite ill in that city, but his departure was delayed on account of the condition of his leg—hurt by the explosion of a range at his home a few weeks ago.
It is causing him considerable pain and is swollen to such an extent that he is unable to bear his weight on it. The condition of his mother is reported to be about the same, but the sheriff will leave for San Francisco as soon as his condition permits.
