Welfare Office Cost
Is Only 9.2 Per Cent

In an address prepared for radio
delivery, Administrator I. M. Brandjord of the state welfare department said the administrative cost
for relief in the state is only 9.2
per cent, instead of 30 per cent as
charged by a legislative investigating
committee. The 9.2 per cent included the state department and
county departments. It did not include the administrative cost of child
service and aid to crippled children,
the administrator said.

Brandjord also pointed out that
the administrative cost of the welfare department for the two-year
period ended March 2 was considerably less than the amount the 1937
legislature earmarked for administration. He declared that not "one
single dollar, dime, nickel or penny
has been dishonestly expended"
through the welfare department.
