Full Text

NEW-YORK, June 20.

Last Friday night some villains made an attempt to break into the store of Mr. M'Evers, of this city, merchant: They bored several holes in the window shutters, opposite the hinges, with a view to rend them off; but the inside shutters having small bells fixed to them, which no doubt rung by the pressure on the window frame, and the rogues imagining they would alarm the family, we suppose, made off without obtaining any booty.

The expense of a few shillings, in all probability, has prevented the above store from being plundered of a great value.
