FISHKILL, December 27.

Extract from GENERAL ORDERS.

Head Quarters, Highlands, Dec. 25.

The General has the pleasure of acquainting the army that Capt. Williams, of the New-York levies, doing duty on the lines, on the night of the 22d instant, made an excursion to Morrisania, with 25 volunteer horse; and brought off one Captain, one Lieutenant, and seven private prisoners, without any loss on our side. Capt. Pritchard, with a detachment of infantry, moved down to cover the retreat in case it should have been necessary; but the enemy dared not pursue the horse.

The General presents his thanks to Capt. Williams, and the volunteers who were with him, for the spirit and address exhibited by them on this enterprise.
