Between the hours of 3 and 4 p. M. an explosion took place in one of the buildings attached to the Richmond Powder Mills, about seven miles from this city, by which unfortunate event, three persons were killed, and a fourth so much burnt as to leave little hopes of his recovery. The names of the killed are Brooks, Franklin and Walden; the wounded, Phildemon. There were not more than between two and three hundred pounds of powder in the house at the time. The cause of the explosion cannot now be known, as the survivor is incapable of speaking.
