Patton Arrested On Perjury Charge

MIAMI, Fla., April 25.-(AP).- George Patton, former Dade county deputy sheriff, was arrested on a charge of perjury last night.

He was picked up by sheriff's deputies at his home, booked at the county jail and released under one-thousand dollar bond.

Patton had been called to appear before the grand jury this afternoon.

Acting County Solicitor Vivion Rutherford signed the information against Patton and ordered his arrest.

Rutherford said the perjury charge was based on Patton's conflicting testimony in two court appearances. They were in connection with a charge by Charles Robertson, who alleged that Patton and R. S. McElroy took $23 dollars from him when they raided an alleged bookmaking joint.
