Garbage Dumping Draws County Ire

"The practice of dumping garbage and trash along roads and highways in country areas has created a health menace and is making the approaches to El Centro anything but attractive," P. C. Oswalt, foreman of Imperial county road district No. 2, said Monday.

Oswalt said that El Centrans have been guilty of dumping trash and garbage along the roads and highways and rural dwellers have been guilty of dumping trash, old automobiles, and refuse along roads on both sides of New river, ignoring "No Dumping" signs.

Road crews have been forced to clear up many unsightly and unsanitary messes, Oswalt said.

"There are specified dumping grounds and both city and rural residents should dump their refuse there and dispose of their garbage in the usual approved manner," Oswalt said.
