Full Text

From the National Intelligencer.

During the dreadful gust on Wednesday evening, I went to my spring, where, when I had just arrived, there was a very sharp flash of lightning, and directly after which I saw many little balls of fire, appearing to be about as big as hickory nuts, playing upon the surface of the water, shooting between and around each other with great rapidity, very much like unto the play the little children have, called Thread the Needle. Now I must leave this phenomenon to stronger heads than mine to think upon. But such is the fact.

I am, &c.
