Full Text

The New Hampshire Legislature passed some resolutions against slavery, last spring, and as is customary with such declarations, copies were sent to the Legislatures of all the other States in the Union. The Virginia Legislature, now in session, has unanimously resolved to send them back to the source whence they came. The Governor, "Extra Billy" Smith, was quite touchy about them, in his communication to the Legislature on the subject. He took the occasion to again urge the expulsion of the free negroes from the State.
