BOSTON, JAN. 23.

We are obliged, for want of room, to omit the report of the Secretary of State, founded on the returns, from the selectmen of the several towns, of the number and situation of the deaf and dumb in this commonwealth. The whole number is 254, of whom 139 are males and 115 females—150 are under 21 years of age—20 are over 50 years old, and eight are over 70—35 have estates sufficient or have near friends who are able to afford them a comfortable subsistence; 219 are poor, or the children of poor parents.
