A Rumor that Fargo, N. Dak., Has Been Wiped Out of Existence.

ST. PAUL, Minn., July 8.—A report is current here that the town of Fargo, N. Dak., was completely swept away by a cyclone and that Moorhead, which lies in Minnesota, east of Fargo, was also slightly damaged. Of course if the report is true there must have been great loss of life at Fargo and all indications tend to confirm the reports. A railroad man who arrived from that vicinity says a terrific wind storm prevailed there and that several trains were blown from the tracks. All wires to Fargo are down and the Western Union officials report that about two miles of telegraph wires between there and here have been blown down. West of Fargo they say worse conditions exist, and that miles and miles of wires and poles are down. The last reports received by the signal service from Fargo showed a low barometer, temperature of 80 degrees, wind velocity of six miles an hour, with the conditions good for a storm.

A third telegram received here by General Superintendent Kimberly, of the Northern Pacific, from Jamestown, N. Dak., says the storm struck Fargo about 3 a. m. The roof was blown off of the depot at Mapleton, and one of the elevators at Dalrymple was moved from its base. The elevator at Edmundson the Jamestown and northern branch was struck by lightning and burned. Wrecking forces are at work. No one on the overturned passenger train at Fargo was hurt.
Report Received at Milwaukee.

MILWAUKEE, Wis., July 8.—Advices received at the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul offices from their agents at Fargo are to the effect that the town was nearly wiped out, several people being killed and a number injured. A Northern Pacific train was blown from the track.
Not as Bad as Thought.

JAMESTOWN, N. Dak., July 8.—Reports just received from Fargo state that the town has not been seriously damaged and that no lives have been lost. Several elevators were wrecked, and a Northern Pacific train was blown from the track, but nobody was killed on the wrecked train.
