EMIGRANTS BY RAIL.

Several families have already arrived from the East by the overland railroad, most of whom came to join husbands and fathers already here, who have saved enough from their earnings to send for dear ones in distant lands, from whom in many cases they have long been separated. These accessions to our young community are cheering evidences of prosperity in our mining interests, and promise improvement in the state of border society, which in all new communities where the male inhabitants so largely predominate, lacks the restraining influences of older communities. When the rates of through fare are reduced and emigrant cars provided for the accommodation of families, we may expect great numbers of this class of immigrants, to all of whom we extend a cordial welcome, as no State can ever prosper without the conservative and refining influences of female society.
