Tuesday last, the General Court passed an act for repealing the law made last year, by which the Senate had a negative on the choice of excise officers, &c.
The Hon. Senate, has passed a resolve, by which the bounty given on whale-oil will cease after the 1st of December next.
Thursday 25th ult. the Hon. Legislature appointed a Committee, consisting of Mr. Davis of Boston, Dr. Holten, Mr. Gorham, Mr. Lyman of Springfield, Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Knowles, Mr. Bishop, Gen. Putnam, Mr. Nason, Mr. Wedgery, Dr. Cony, and Col. Ashley, to consider what steps are necessary to be taken to expedite the sale and settlement of the lands in the counties of York, Cumberland and Lincoln: To take up and consider the report of General Lincoln and others, on the propriety of dividing the county of Lincoln, and laying out a road from Kennebeck river to the Eastern boundary, of this Commonwealth: also, the report of the Committee, on the subject of unappropriated land.
