Admiral Jarvis's Squadron.

Extract of a letter, dated at Lisbon, Dec. 24, 1796,

"Since my last, which was of the 16th instant, Sir J. Jarvis arrived at this port with his fleet from the Mediterranean. The fleet under his orders in the Mediterranean consisted of 14 line of battle ships, with some other armed vessels. One ship of the line, (the Audacious, I think) was cast away and most of the crew perished, in Gibraltar Bay another (the Bombay Castle) is on the Bar, off this harbour, and likely to be lost : and a third remains out, so that there are 11 ships of this fleet now in this port."
