Hague, March 10. His Britannic Majesty has addressed a Message to the States General, the tenor of which will sufficiently assure the nation of the sentiments which his said Majesty bears towards them; the principal object of which appears to be, to announce to their High Mightinesses the choice he has made of Sir James Harris, for his Ambassador Extraordinary, in recompence for his eminent services. — The following is a copy of it.

It is interesting in a double degree; first, as an authentic proof of his Majesty's good disposition towards the United Provinces; and secondly, the unexpected praise of his Minister, who will be ever dear to this country.

"High and Mighty Lords, our good Friends, Allies and Confederates,

"The happy events which have lately taken place in your Republic, have interested us so much, that we have taken the most agreeable and public means to manifest to you our entire satisfaction. In this intention we have thought proper to invest with the appointment of our Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Sir James Harris, who has resided some years with you, and of whose eminent services you are equally acquainted with. We are persuaded, for this reason, the choice we have made of his person, on this occasion, cannot but be very agreeable.

"He is so fully informed of our sentiments that he will not neglect to repeat, in the most authentic and solemn manner, the assurances of our affection, as also of our attention to all which may have respect to the advantage and prosperity of your State.

"Our said Ambassador, in obeying our instructions, will not fail in a constant care to cement and strengthen, more and more, the close and happy union which subsists between us, and which the duration of is so very essential to the reciprocal interests of the two nations.

"We request of you to give an entire belief to all which he may represent on our part; and on this we pray God, High and Mighty Lords, our good Friends, Allies and Confederates, to have you in his holy keeping."

"From our palace at St. James's, the 25th of February, in the year 1788, and of our reign the twenty-eighth.

"Your very good Friend,

GEORGE R."

(Underneath.) CARMARTHEN.
