On Sunday morning, news came up the West Branch that surgeons and nurses were wanted in the Union armies, and hospital supplies. Ten or a dozen of the best physicians of our county, at once volunteered, and went down with the night train. A few good nurses, out of the many gentlemen desiring to go as such, were taken along, with many on the same errands from the towns above. Monday morning, were despatched several boxes of lint, shirts, bandages, cotton shirts, and other necessaries for the sick and wounded, made up by the Ladies on Sunday afternoon.
