N. Carolina Leads In Colored Schools

RALEIGH, N. C. — Thirteen standard high schools, on the basis of last year's work, were added to the accredited list for Negroes, making the total number of high schools in the state for Negroes 108. North Carolina is the only southern state where Negroes are admissible in 100 high schools. There are 696 high schools for whites. The white population of North Carolina in 1930 was 2,234,948 and the Negro 918,647. Negroes constitute 29 percent of the population and have 12 per cent of the high schools.
