Appointment of Mrs. Katharine Bailey as a member of the Virgin Islands Board of Education for a 4-year term to succeed Mrs. Marjorie Bissell was announced this week by Gov. Gordon.

A graduate of Smith College, Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Board of Education in Hartsdale, New York, and for one year was chairman of the board. Her business experience included fourteen years in New York City in advertising and public relations. Eight of those years were spent with the firm of Young & Rubicam, Inc.

Mrs. Bailey has served as publicity chairman for the Girl Scouts and Community Music Association and is chairman of the annual Christmas party for children at the hospital, sponsored by the Republican Women. For the last three years she has been editor of the V.I. Carnival Book.
