Fire.--The Butler house in Westminster street opposite the Arcade, belonging to A. Duncan was badly injured by fire last Sunday night. It was discovered about 11 o'clock, and it had made such progress, that the inmates found it difficult to escape, egress being prevented both in front and rear by the door ways and entries being filled with the raging flames. Three females were abed in the third story of the house, and they escaped through a window in that story over adjoining roofs, with no covering to their persons but their night dress. The fire originated by accident, in a back room in the second story, and the easterly part of the building is pretty thoroughly charred, but not past repairing. The basement contained the dry goods stores of N. S. Draper and A. M. Warner, and their goods badly injured by the water were removed in season to escape the flames, and both were insured to the amount of the loss at the American and Hartford offices. The upper part of the building was occupied by Miss Copps, milliner, and Mr. Dinsmore, dentist. The former was insured for $1000. The building was insured at the Mutual Office for $4000, and the damage is estimated at 1000 or 1200 dollars.
