AFL Union Sues Company For Breach Of Contract

LOS ANGELES - A company which tried to violate a closed shop contract found itself with a $60,000 damage suit on its hands. The suit was filed in superior court by Lumber & Sawmill Workers Union, No. 228,
United Bro. of Carpenters (AFL).

In addition to the $60,000 damages, the union asked for an injunction to restrain the company from hiring non-union labor. The union charged John W. Fisher, Bessie M. Fisher, Thomas J. Fox and D. S. Moore with refusing to live up to a closed shop clause in a contract when they took over control of the John W. Fisher Co.
