Extract of a Letter from Madrid, dated August 6. N.S.

THE Resolution of the British Court, to send a Fleet to the West-Indies, has determined the King to dispatch Orders on that Head to the Governors of the Havannah, St. Augustine, and other Ports in America, belonging to this Crown. We are assured, that in one of the Conferences which the Marquis de la Quadra has lately had with Mr. Keene, the British Minister, he complained to his Excellency about the great Liberties which the English News-Writers take whenever they have Opportunity, to mention the Spanish Affairs: It is said, that Mr. Keene answered, that the Freedom of Writing being greater in England than in any other Country, it might happen they made Use of that Liberty in a Juncture, when the English were highly discontented at the Losses they had suffered by the Spaniards.
