Hits Lookout Post

PHOENIX - Randall Alexander, fire lookout at McFadden peak in the Tonto National forest, was stunned last Wednesday during an electrical storm, when a bolt of lightning struck the lookout house and tower where he is stationed, according to information received here by T. T. Swift, supervisor of the forest.

The galvanized iron station and tower is equipped with lightning rods, but the bolt struck with sufficient force to stun the fire guard. He had practically recovered the next day and returned to his duties.

Electrical storms have been unusually frequent this year in the forest. 18 fires having been started in one ten-day period by lightning.
