Says O'Loughlin

Elmer "Violent" Ray, one time contender for the world's heavyweight boxing crown, is through fighting.

At least that was the opinion of Tommy O'Loughlin, Ray's manager, as he turned the heavyweight's contract over to the National Boxing association. At the same time, O'Loughlin recommended to the NBA that Ray be suspended "for his own good."

Ray has been slipping badly in his last few bouts, and has been severely beaten on several occasions. He was knocked out and badly cut up by John Holman of Chicago, in their recent Miami fight.

O'Loughlin cancelled the return fight.

He was knocked out by Joe Louis, last week, in an exhibition bout at Dallas.
