Fire!

The dwelling house of Joel Bristoll Esq. of Clinton, Oneida county N. Y. was consumed by fire on the 23d ult. about 11 o'clock, A. M. It is supposed that a spark of fire fell from the chimney on the roof, burnt a hole into the garret where there was such a quantity of combustible matter as to bid defiance to every attempt for saving the house. Through the exertions of the citizens and students of Hamilton college, the out-houses and a principal part of the furniture were secured from the flames. Amount of loss is estimated at about 1500 dollars.
