On Friday morning we published a special dispatch to the effect that one R. T. Course had suicided. Course, it appears, was well-known here by a number of persons, with whom he had done business. There is reason to believe the suicide had been contemplated some time before it was put into execution. He was in the habit of purchasing goods from Auerbach & Bro., with whom he had an account. The last time he was in the city he told the firm he would send them some money soon. On Friday, after the announcement of his suicide was made public, they received telegraphic information that an examination of his papers showed a letter addressed to Auerbach & Bro., which was supposed to contain money. There appears to be a spice of romance connected with the unfortunate man's life. It is said he was engaged to a young lady in the east, and that the understanding was he would make enough money and then return and marry her. When he arrived in the territory first he was unsuccessful in business, and she kept writing to him to know when he would return and when they were to be married. Finally she said unless he came soon she would consider the match off. Another letter informed him that, as he had not come to wed her, and as she had received another offer she decided to accept it, and was married. About this time he changed his base of business, moved to another part of the territory and began to be more successful. He was despondent and took to drink; and finally suicided, as heretofore related.
