Shocking Suicide!—The Newtown, (N. Y.) Telegraph of the 6th and 13th inst, relates the particulars of a case of suicide in the town, the horrors of which perhaps have never been equalled.

Mr. Adam Hager had been laboring for some time under pecuniary embarrassments, which deranged his mind and determined him to destroy himself. His first attempt was to choak himself with a piece of biscuit: he then endeavored to thrust a sharp stick through his body: he afterwards run his head several times against a rock: next ascended a tree, and jumped off, hoping thereby to break his neck, but only, injured his hip severely: he then attempted to crawl to a creek to drown himself, but being exhausted, failed, and in this miserable condition was found, taken to his house, and medical aid rendered. Still, however, bent on his purpose, he embraced a moment when the attendants, at his instance, had absented themselves, to get a razor, with which he cut his throat. The razor being immediately wrested from him, he seized the wound with both hands and endeavored to make it larger. In the struggle he escaped from the house, ran some distance, fell down, and before any person could overtake him, he succeeded in thrusting a stick four inches long and three-quarters thick, into the wound downwards. Notwithstanding this last attempt, he lingered in torments several days, without the possibility of taking nourishment.
