TOWN LIBRARY.

It was with regret that we saw the effort made a few days ago to procure a meeting of the citizens of Lynchburg, for the purpose of adopting some measures preparatory to the establishment of a Town Library, prove abortive. No object can be of more importance, nor would it be less difficult to carry into operation any project. The success of the proposition, too, would be opening a wide field for the enjoyment and recreation of our citizens in their leisure moments, after the fatigues of business, and we therefore hope that it will not be permitted to drop. It is not our design at present to suggest any plan which might most probably be successful. We wish only to direct the public attention to the subject, and endeavor to lead them to consider of it.
