A reconnoitering force has gone towards Charleston, looking after Pillow's probable movements. Fort Holt, Kentucky, was to-day put into telegraphic communication with Cairo.

Cairo, Oct. 4.—An expedition five hundred strong is now out, under Col. Logan, foraging in Missouri. It will return to-morrow, well loaded with grain. When last heard from they were at Charleston, and had secured a dozen rebel prisoners.
It is reported that Pillow, with a heavy force, is again moving across Missouri towards Cape Girardeau.
A reconnoitering force has gone towards Charleston, looking after Pillow's probable movements.
Fort Holt, Kentucky, was to-day put into telegraphic communication with Cairo.
