A storm of fierce Lightning and Thunder visited our city on Monday last. The Lightning struck in several places. Two men, John Barrett of this place, and a Mr. Noble, of Columbus, were killed. They were industrious mechanics, we are informed, and were working together at a small building on the Race Ground. Several other persons were in the building at the time, but none of them were injured. We have understood that the application of cold water was made in this instance, but not until after the rain was over, and scarcely a hope of resuscitating them remained. It was also applied injudiciously.—The bodies were not stripped nor any friction used; both should have been done: The rubbing with the hand, particularly of the extremities, and the application of the cold water should be as immediately after the accident as possible.

A storm of fierce lightning and thunder visited Cincinnati on Monday last. The lightning struck in several places, including a small building on the Race Ground where John Barrett of Cincinnati and Mr. Noble of Columbus, industrious mechanics, were working together and were killed. Several other persons were in the building at the time but none injured. Cold water was applied after the rain but injudiciously, without stripping the bodies or using friction, and too late for resuscitation.
