Full Text

By a Vessel which arrived here Yesterday in 7 Days from Louisbourg we have Advice. That as soon as the Governor there was informed that two or three Fishermen were taken by a Shallop off of Canso, he immediately ordered two Sloops to be armed, and sent in each a Lieutenant and 30 Men, to look into all the Harbours both on that and the Nova Scotia Shore:

They did so, and at last in a Place called Pictou, on the Nova Scotia Side, they espied a Schooner and several Canoes, which they stood in to destroy.---- The Enemy were prepared; and had assembled a large Body on the Banks of the Harbour, where they had a Breast Work thrown up, and Several Swivel Guns for their Defence:--Our People stood close in to the Schooner to board her ; but being then quite close to the Shore, and overlooked by a Hill that hung over them at about 40 Yards Distance from whence the Enemy fired very smartly upon them, and wounded one of the Lieutenants and upwards of 20 of the Men. some of them dangerously.--They were obliged to haul off again; and at a little Distance cannonaded the Schooner, so that they think she is rendered useless.

One of the Sloops went to Fort Amherst with the wounded Men; the other returned to Louisbourg : We hear the Governor there is determined to destroy this Set of the Enemy, who have since taken several Vessels; for which Purpose two or three more small Vessels were just ready to sail from Louisbourg,
