Edinburgh, Dec. 30. Last Thursday an Express arrived here from London, with an Account, that his Majesty had received Information that there is Reason to apprehend that a Dutch Vessel, called Ruygen Hoff, of Amsterdam, commanded by Jan Wetlerdyk, was expected to arrive very soon from Constantinople, having the Plague on Board, and that Directions had been given for preventing her being received in any Port in Holland, and that his Majesty had given Orders in the strongest Manner, that all possible Care may be taken to hinder the said Ship from being admitted into any of the Ports of Great Britain; whereupon Orders were dispatched by the Commissioners of the Customs to all their Officers, and by the Commander in Chief of his Majesty's Forces, to all the Troops quartered along the Coast to give them ready and hearty Assistance in putting these Orders in vigorous Execution, so as to prevent the said Ship from landing in any Port in Scotland. The above Intelligence was at the same Time sent off by the Right Hon. the Lord Provost of this City to the different Royal Burroughs in this Kingdom.
