Full Text
The democratic organs of Tennessee assert that "a bold effort will be made to redeem the state of Arkansas from republicanism"—or words to that effect—and cite the combined action of the liberal baker's dozen as an evidence of their harmony and co-operation in this "bold effort."
When Brooks, leader of the factionists, preached his farewell political sermon, and advocated the use of arms to overcome the republican party of this state, we thought that a "bold effort." But it seems that another "bold effort" is to be made by a combined action of the liberals and Kuklux democracy.
We presume his excellency Governor Hadley understands this threat and will have the militia sufficiently organized to repel any "bold effort" which these shot gun advocates may make between the present time and the November election. At all events, the republicans of Arkansas will understand that the liberals and democrats have decided for another "bold effort" to place the state in the possession of Real Estate bank thieves and the Kuklux murderers, and as the republican party, or as individuals, they will be prepared to meet and repel this "bold effort" in any shape that it may take.
