The Conservatives.—The Madisonian contains the address and resolutions of the New York Conservatives. They protest against a bankrupt law as proposed by the President—against the sub-treasury system, and against special deposits, and go for a re-trial of the "Experiment." Nothing else will satisfy them. They denounce the Loco Focos, and proclaim themselves forever separated from them. The Madisonian, commenting on the proceedings, and the position assumed by the Conservatives, says: "The balance of power, as between the two contending parties of Whigs and friends of the sub-Treasury, lies with us. The Democratic Republicans are competent to turn the scale whichever way the people may indicate. We are distinct from the Whigs, and the severance from the Loco Focos is complete. This position, therefore, we regard as the most enviable to which a party can aspire," &c. The Conservatives of this region do not appear to look upon their position in so happy a light as does the "Madisonian." They are "horribly afeard," and dodge at their own shadows. It is easy to foresee that unless they master their fears, or at least assume a bolder front, they are destined to an early overthrow—Rich. Whig.
