Full Text
It is remarkable that with all their experience of disaster and defeat, the whigs cannot learn to fight one thing at a time, but mix up all questions together, and thereby bring their contests to an issue before the people are prepared to act in them. Many of the whigs are in this manner unconsciously doing more for Van Buren at this very moment than his most ardent friends. The true policy of the whigs both as respects their Presidential feelings and views of state policy, is to support Governor Wolf; & we are sustained in this opinion by the most intelligent of their own party in the state as well as in this county. If Gov. Wolf should be re-elected, of which we have no doubt, THIS STATE WILL GO AGAINST Van Buren as sure as there IS A SUN IN THE HEAVENS, unless the ultra opponents of Van Buren themselves be the cause of giving him the state.—Northern (Pa.) Banner.
