The foundations of both the additional Buildings for Public Offices, authorized by an act of the last Session of Congress, have been commenced, and will be rapidly prosecuted. These buildings are to be of the same size as the two present edifices, and to stand parallel to them, distant forty or fifty yards; the new buildings being North of the others.

These buildings will add greatly to the accommodation of the Public Offices, and of those who have business with them.

The foundation of the Centre Building of the Capitol is begun, also in conformity to the law of last session; and great activity is seen in the workshops where the columns of Potomac Marble are finishing for the interior of the Representative Chamber. We hope to see the Capitol completed within and without, embellishments of all kinds included, in a time shorter than, until the late session of Congress, we had ever dared to calculate on.
