Miners on Trial for Murder.

Vienna, Ills., Jan. 24.-The trial of the twelve Carterville miners for murder was called before Judge Vickers and the work of selecting a jury has begun. The names of the men on trial are: Wesley Shadowens, Lem Shadowens, Charles Shadowens, Robert Hadfield, Willis Karney, William Kelley, Richard Kelley, Elmer James, Math Walker, John Wallace, Frank Grider, and A. J. Nangle. They stand charged with killing five negroes at or near the depot in Carterville on Sunday, Sept. 17 last.
